Tiptoe Ahead!

Patience walks with steady tread;
Faith with uplifted head;
but Hope,
tiptoeing on ahead,
sees first the sun arise!
~author unknown - printed in Reflecting God devotional~

Patience . . . Faith . . . Hope . . .
I want all three as my traveling companions this year!
I NEED all three as I face the unknowns of 2011!
However, the two little words "but Hope" speak the loudest to me just now.
. . . but Hope . . .

Problems will arise . . . but Hope
Obstacles may loom like impassable mountains . . . but Hope
Prayers may seemingly rise no higher than the ceiling . . . but Hope
Storm clouds will hide the sun . . . but Hope
. . . but Hope!
Always Hope!

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.
~Hebrews 6:19~

And as one of my favorite songs by Ray Boltz says:

The anchor holds though the ship is battered.
The anchor holds though the sails are torn . . .
The anchor holds in spite of the storms.
(You can hear the entire song on my playlist.)

hope is one of the best reasons we don't and shouldn't know the future! It's really not set in stone, is it?

This is beautiful, Glenda! We all need these traveling companions. As I was reading this post my mind went back to when I received the shattering news that my one and only son had been seriously burned......but Hope...Hope that somehow he would be okay.....Hope that God would answer our prayers...always..Hope! Thanks be to God for Hope and answered prayers.

So beautiful and so true. I love that last song so much. Hope - what would we do without it. And trust. And perseverance. And flexibility!

Hope has been the word that I have hung on to over the past year. I like to use the words hope and expectation interchangeably. I am sorry to hear that you have been ill. My oldest daughter had the flu over Christmas and is still recovering. Hope you feel much better soon! Carla

As I get older I realize that we have this HOPE because of God's grace in our life. He gives us the hope, the grace to go on in this life and enjoy the years or days we have left.

I appreciate this post, Glenda, and am bouyed by the truth of that song!

Barbara Kingsolver (a contemporary author, not necessarily Christian) said~ The very least you can do in your life is to figure out what you hope for. And the most you can do is live inside that hope. Not admire it from a distance but live right in it, under its roof. ~

MY hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and (His) righteousness!

I intended to read this over the weekend, but didn't. I'm glad I waited because I really needed this tonight---rough day at school with fellow English teacher. And we're both there for the long run, so I came home discouraged.
Wonderful, "hopeful" message--thank you.:)

the Anchor holds...a favourite song of our elderly neighbour lady who battled successfully hodgens disease, and even after two strokes, was able to play this song... it remains one of my favourite in memory of her. Hope is what always carried her through.
Jesus her hope of glory!
