Manna Miracles

It's not too often that I see a hummer's tongue . . . and I love it when I get a "miraculous" shot like this one! Well . . . OK, it's not really a miracle; that may be carrying it a little too far!

I wonder, though, how many miracles we miss . . . or take for granted . . . or call a "coincidence." I'm reading a book by Mark Batterson entitled The Circle Maker, which I highly recommend. He writes about the Israelites complaining about one miracle, the manna from heaven, while asking for another - meat. He reminds readers not to be too critical, however, for we do the same thing!

There are miracles all around us all the time, yet it's so easy to find something to complain about in the midst of those miracles. The simple act of reading involves millions of impulses firing across billions of synapses. While you are reading, your heart goes about its business circulating five quarts of blood through a hundred thousand miles of veins, arteries, and capillaries. And it's amazing you can even concentrate, given the fact that you're on a planet that is traveling 67,000miles per hour through space while spinning around its axis at a speed of 1,000 miles per hour. But we take those manna miracles, the miracles that happen day in, day out, for granted.

I'm glad God is patient with us just as He was with the Israelites, but I don't want to take His patience lightly.  How much richer our lives would be if we could just see - really see - the miracles around us daily. . . and if we could learn to be content with His just-enough-for-today blessings.

I mentioned the rarity of seeing a hummingbird's sliver of a tongue.  I certainly don't want God to say, "I rarely hear Glenda being thankful for the blessings I lavish on her."

Lord, give me eyes wide open to your manna miracles . . . and a thankful, content heart.

It's okay in my opinion to call it a miracle, or you can say....it was one of those God things:) Love when He does that for us!

I love the Bruce Carroll song "Sometimes Miracles Hide" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvdYhfCeaS4).

There are so many things I know I take for granted. And probably the biggest of the miracles in my life are those that hide in plain sight.

Great post!

We take so many things for granted that are what I think of as His "wonders."

Glenda, Einstein stated: "There are two ways to live: As if everything is a miracle, or, as if nothing is a miracle." I love the way you see miracles, for I do also. I believe that HE loves our gratitude of "seeing miracles" in every day life. Seeing that "sliver of a tongue..." is indeed rare and wonderful and a miracle. A different kind than a physical healing miracles, but one none the less. Also, your new profile photo is just lovely. Really like it. Thank you for such loving comments on my post remembering my mother. Blessings.

Now this is one powerful post! I hope God never has to say, "I rarely hear Charlotte giving thanks..." but I am finding myself whining a lot about our weather :)

I always try to be thankful for every day blessings. There are many. Right now it is raining here and we badly needed it. I'm thankful for a summer shower today. Your Humming bird picture is priceless. Who knew they had tongues like that.

What a great pic! And I loved the instrumental of How Great Thou Art. You are right. It is easy to get sidetracked by the irritations and miss the miracles! Have a blessed weekend.

Such a nice post. We had a nice shower of rain today; it brought tears to my eyes. It is so dry around us. The farmers are having a very hard time keeping their spirits up.

So true! It's good to remember how much we have to be thankful for. Every day miracles that we take for granted until they are gone.

Oh my...I have never seen a hummer's tongue. We have so much, have seen so much that we do forget to focus on the miraculous. Thank you for calling us back to watching for God's miracles.

wow and double wow. This shot is incredible and I totally agree with you that miracles are everywhere and especially that He's so totally patient with us....at least with me. I think sometimes if I were Him I'd have given up on me a long time ago.
