I'll never outgrow Vacation Bible School!!
This week the boys and girls of our church/community are visiting Nazareth where Jesus grew up. And it has been so much fun! Along with the fun and because of the fun, God's Word has come alive - through the songs, which you see on the screen above; through drama, games and crafts; through amazing decorations and props. His Word has been the focus of it all . . . simple yet profound words . . . timeless truths that children of all ages can grasp and hide away in their hearts . . . words to live by.
My heart has been touched and encouraged each night as these key verses have been highlighted:
For nothing is impossible with God. (Luke 1:37)
I have called you by name; you are mine. (Isaiah 43:1)
There is more than enough room in my Father's house. (John 14:2)
I sometimes wonder why we big kids make living for Jesus so complicated. I think that's one reason I love VBS so much! For a few hours each night I see firsthand simple, child-like faith . . . eyes filled with wonder . . . ears open to hear more . . . expectant excitement. I don't want to ever get too old for that kind of experience and lifestyle!
VBS . . . a Very Bright Spot in my summer - one that I don't plan to outgrow!!

This brings back precious memories of my childhood. Thank you for sharing, Glenda.
I love those three verses!! For so many years, our church had VBS. But about two years ago they stopped. i still think it was a bad decision.
Vacation Bible School is a lot of fun! Many good lessons are learned there.
Amen, amen, amen!!! What a WONDERFUL week we're having!!
I think your enthusiasm & perspective bless God's heart - not to mention the kids!
We had the same VBS this year. It was a hit!
Love the Very Bright Spot!! So many fabulous memories of attending and then teaching VBS and taking our own children! Isaiah 43:1 - my baptism verse!
It was always a very special time.

Yes, I have wonderful memories of VBS. I'm no longer involved, but perhaps some day when I'm not teaching as a job.
What a wonderful theme! I'm sure the kids are loving it!:>)
I am a VBS lover too! We worked with the teenagers this year...what fun! Carla
I still remember few of the songs which we had in our school diary...your post made me a lil nostalgic.
Back to High School!
How were you described in high school?

Glenda, I always loved VBS, and as and adult, taught VBS. There is always more to learn about our Savior! Loved your post.
I have such fond memories of VBS when I was a child.
I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. You are right, that we need to see things through the eyes of a child. God enjoys child-like faith. You said it well...that we make it too complicated!
This brings back a lot of precious memories of my attending Bible School as a child. I always loved Bible School. Thanks for sharing with us.
I became a Christian at VBS in 1968.
