Totally Tuned In

(JD and Isaac building a deer stand)

When The Teacher speaks am I totally tuned in?

Are my eyes focused?
There are so many distractions.

Are my ears open?
Our world has become so noisy . . . but The Teacher never yells.

Are my heart, mind and soul intent on learning?
Do I really want to learn . . . and grow . . . and be changed?
Or am I satisfied with the way I am?
Besides, the measuring and trimming and sanding and hammering can be awfully painful.

I know I'm not the most attentive student at times, but I'm surely glad The Teacher is patient with me. I don't want to treat His kindness recklessly, however. I can't imagine a greater privilege and honor than to learn from The Master Himself!

So, the words of this song express my desire:
Open our (my) eyes, Lord, we (I) want to see Jesus -
To reach out and touch Him and say that we (I) love Him.
Open our (my) ears, Lord, and help us (me) to listen;
Open our (my) eyes, Lord, we (I) want to see Jesus.
~Bob Cull~

I really do want to be totally tuned in . . . and I plan to be
a life-long student of His!

That picture is just beautiful. I love how intently he is focused on the task at hand. Your thoughts are so well presented, and that song is one that I sing often during my morning time with God. Carla

God is speaking to many of us who link on this internet. It's wonderful to see that happening and to know that we all want the same thing---to be closer to Him.
Delightful picture!

What a beautiful post. It reminds me of how the doctors had to put my son-in-law back together after the explosion. A skin grafting after skin grafting. Sometimes they would not take and they would have to start over again; harvest more skin from his chest (a small spot that was not burned) and then start again with the grafting. They too never gave up on Chip even when things looked most dim. And that is how our Lord deals with us, patiently, moving us forward, picking us up when we fall, never giving up on us. What a wonderful Savior. Thank you for reading my blog and sharing your heart with me.

Glenda,
What a lovely photo making the deer stand. The little boy sure is tuned in to making it. I like the poem very much about listening to the Teacher and what He has to say to us.
Have a great Labor Day.

These words really hit home with me, "Our world has become so noisy . . . but The Teacher never yells." It reminds me how important it is to seek solitude with God! Excellent post!

I can tell you've been His student for many years. It's awesome that one never comes to the end of learning.

I have been asking God to teach me more about the Holy Spirit. I have a lot to learn. I'm only in Kindergarten on this.
