It's more than a Boy Scout motto . . .

Be prepared.
You're up against far more than you can handle on your own.
Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued,
so that when it's all over but the shouting you'll still be on your feet.
Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words.
Learn how to apply them. You'll need them throughout your life.
God's Word is an indispensable weapon.
In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare.
Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters.
Keep your eyes open.
Keep each other's spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.

Ephesians 6:12-14

Again, what a good analogy, and a good illustration with the picture of the cut wood. But I don't know the Boy Scout Motto, it is this bible verse? I thought they had one that was written special for them, did not know it was actually from the bible!

I was referring to "Be Prepared." I'm sure there's more to the motto!

That's a part of my FIL's stash of wood that his sons have cut, split (with a fancy wood splitter), and stacked neatly for him.

What a wonderful message. I do believe in the power of prayer and now more than ever we all need to hold one another up in prayer. Thanks for the encouraging posting.

It is so true about being prepared. I just did a post about that the other day and showed some pictures of a couple of my grandsons int their little uniforms. All my boys were scouts and now a few of their children are too. It was good for them leaning about preparedness but the Bible teaches more than the scouts do for sure

That wood pile and your comment "Be Prepared" brought a smile to my face. Someone is definitely preparing for some cold weather!

And when I read your message, I appreciated it so much! Yes we are in a battle. We can't be sleeping! We need to use the tools God has given us.

i am a BSA troop chaplain and getting ready to do the children's service at our church this week upcoming during Scout Sunday. Thank you for this quote from ephesians - i was looking for a quote to back up the BSA motto so i can ask the kids how they can "be prepared" ... be prepared for WHAT!? if you're under 10, what is there to be prepared for? Boy scouts in the audience will appreciate the connection to the motto "be prepared" with this verse.

also -- the motto, the law, and the oath are all online if someone wanted to familiarize themselves with them, and there are great bible verses that go with the scout laws.

visit my blog after this weekend for a report back about Scout Sunday 2014 up here in massachusetts.
