A Work in Progress

This pic, which I snapped from my front porch, says so much about the activity here (in Louisiana, Ginny). Workers from several states are in our area trying to get power on for so many of us. We still don't have power, but we are OK. Slowly, progress is being made, and many homes do now have electricity.

We are continuing to work in our yard, and John David was able to replace the shingles that were blown off. It will take quite a while to clean up everything, but that's OK! We're alive and our house is standing. No lives were lost; we've not heard of any injuries! AMAZING . . . when you see mangled trees strewn across yards, the woods, and across many roads.

I want to thank all of my blogger friends for your kind and caring words - and for your prayers. I won't be able to thank each of you personally, but I really appreciate every comment. Please continue to pray for those in Alabama who've lost so much.

God is good . . . in the good times and in the bad times . . . when things are calm and everything is in its place . . . and when "normal" is suddenly swept away. It's comforting to know that His eyes never leave us . . . and our Rock never moves!

The Lord's our Rock; in Him we hide -
A shelter in the time of storm.
Secure whatever ill betide,
A shelter in the time of storm.

The raging storms may round us beat -
A shelter in the time of storm.
We'll never leave our safe retreat,
A shelter in the time of storm.
~

Yes---God be with ALL of you, Glenda. You all are lucky that there wasn't much more damage like some other places. SO SCARY....

Hope they get your electricity restored soon....

Hugs and Prayers,
Betsy

Here's hoping your powerless days will soon be over, the cleanup complete, and back to normalcy.

Just checked your blog and I am so glad you are safe. The weather has been so severe lately. We have had lots of rain, flooding etc. but no wind. Glad you are safe. You are right then you say the stuff isn't important when we think of lives taken.

I'm glad to see that people are in your area working on it! Each and every minute of life is so precious and I know it's so important to live in the present. wonderful lyrics for this post. Oh poor Connie, I had problems commenting this morning too.

Just now catching up on many blogs and seeing the destruction that hit your place. So thankful that you are ok. Hope you've got electricity back - if not, then soon. God is good! All the time! Love your reassuring thoughts in all your posts! God bless!

Glad it didn't blow you away. Damage can be repaired but lives can't. Our area (central MS) was hit hard and lives were lost. Large trees fell on the homes of my nephew, my DIL's parents, her brother and her sister, plus her brother's car. Many trees are down and roofs blow off.
Praying that all of your damage will be repaired soon. Being without power is a real challenge.

It's good to know you're being able to get things cleaned up, even it's a little at a time.
