Labels

I know.
It's just a thistle.
A weed!

But that doesn't mean it isn't beautiful.

Wonder how much beauty I've missed because of
labels that I've placed on circumstances. . . and more importantly,
on people.

I'm glad our Heavenly Father doesn't label His children.
He lovingly calls all of us "Mine."

Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name;
you are mine.

Isaiah 43:1

How true. I always pray that God will help me to see others the way he does, not the way the world does. Carla

The pictures are lovely! I adore dandelions, and most weeds, which are not weeds, but wildflowers! They are like we should be, not needing pampered in order to do their job. I love how you talk about labeling, and that verse from Isaiah is one of my very favorites! You need to write a small book of devotionals with a picture for each.

I agree with Ginny! I would DEFINITELY buy that book. Even if it contained only what you've put on your blog so far, it would be WELL worth buying!! I love the pictures and your words here, Glenda. Hopefully the next time I see "just a weed"...I will allow the Lord to remind me of your words :)

There is such grace in the lines of the thistle ...

God must really love the weeds too, He made so many of them! LOL I just love the fascinating way God has made everything and for our and His pleasure!

On the other hand, I took a senior out into the back courtyard for a walk. All she could see was the weeds, while I tried to point out to her the gorgeous new flowers, trees in bloom, birds singing, squirrels frolicking, the blue sky, the puffy clouds, but all she focused on were the weeds. I sensed a deeper spiritual issue and gave her a chance to vent.....

Beautiful pictures! The application is so true. I'm sure I've missed some beauty in life because of labels too.

I'm for the devotional too.
What comfort to know we belong to the creator of all things beautiful and not-so-beautiful!

Great post, Glenda. We certainly do put labels on people and things, don't we??? I think we just generalize --without thinking.

We're having a great time at the beach. Wish you were here.
Hugs,
Betsy

I love thistles--they ARE beautiful! Amen, to God not labeling us anything but HIS!

It may be called a weed, but it is still beautiful!

Some of my favorite flowers are labeled "weeds"

By any other name a weed is a flower in everyday clothes.

I love this one! I love it that the grandgirlies think dandelions are the best flower.

I love your thought about this plant. It's so true! It's all in how we look at things.

That thistle looks surprisingly beautiful!
