Spring is a'hummin' . . .

The hummers are back!

I'm always so excited to see the first one, and along with many other "firsts" this year, they are early.  But that's fine with me!  They are one of my favorites of all God's creations, and I'm sure their antics and beauty will provide me with many hours of enjoyment.

Seems that God is lavishing His awesome creativity on us this Spring in so many ways . . . warm temps, blue skies, color popping out everywhere, the greenest of green new leaves, birds chirping - and early hummingbirds!  Today I counted 100+ buds on my rosebushes.

It's true:  Spring is a'hummin' and I like her tune!

the hummers mark a celebration day for us as well the return of the geese and ducks... and robins.
Amazingly the robins have already shown themselves ( we still have 1-2 metres of snow in our northern exposures... they are dallying on the south sides :)
love your photos of our little friends!

Taking in the beauty of these pictures made me feel like I could hear the humming! Our Spring started early then last night -- a big freeze. My husband covered the rose bushes. I love spring!

I love your photos of the hummers at the feeder. Your photos are super. I look forward to the hummers returning, too. It's a wonderful spring.

I don't feed hummingbirds so I must miss out on great entertainment. Our purple martins have returned and the mockingbird sings again.

I love the hummers. The pictures you got are amazing I can never catch them. My camera is too slow. We put up the feeders for them last week because it was so warm here, but we had freezing temps overnight and are very cool again so I don't suppose they'll be here anytime soon. I hope not as it's too cold for them. It was mid April when we first saw them last year.

Fantastic photos, Glenda, esp. that top one with the fluttering of the wings! I have not had much success with hummingbirds the last two summers, but will try again. They are so wonderful and amazing to watch.
I'm amazed at how much my roses are showing springtime---quite a lot esp. this early in the season! I had wanted a real snowstorm before Easter, but now I don't. The schools around here are usually past their snow days, but this year most of us have had only one and that was due to ice and extremely cold temps, not because of a large amount of snow.

Beautiful! We saw a hummingbird near our chair in Palm Springs almost every day. I never did get a picture of it. Do they ever hold still? =)
