Straddling a fence might be fun
For a short while if you're a child -
Especially if you're agile like Abby
And gymnastics is your style.
But straddling the fence spiritually
Is a dangerous place to be.
He asks us to make a choice -
It's life or death, you see.
He died that we may have life -
A life so full and free.
Can't you hear His gentle whisper?
"Get down. Come follow Me."
~G. Thaxton~
I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus.
I have decided to follow Jesus;
No turning back, no turning back.

A great picture to go with these thoughts. The ones on the fence are not really on the fence at all, are they? At least spiritually.
True, Ginny. I was thinking about the Scripture in I Kings 18:21 that says, "How long will ye halt between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, then follow him." In The Message paraphrase: "How long are you going to sit on the fence?"
Sometimes the fence sitters are just like spectators in life waiting to see which team is going to win. When they see then they decide which team they want to be on. I always hope to influence just one or two along the way.
I guess being on the fence - is a decision in itself - just hanging around. Love the photo and I'm sure the person didn't stay on the fence! It's really not a comfortable place to be! Great post!
I love the photo. I have an "Abby," but the gymnast is Peyton. A great combination of photo and words for a lesson so true.
I teach my students that in a persuasive essay they can't straddle the fence. That's so tough for them. They want to give a reason for and a reason against, because they can see both sides. Getting them to take a "stand" is a hard task and it's just for an essay not for life!
"choose this day ..." such a great illustration to accompany your words
Great poem with a great picture! Have a wonderful Sunday.
