Celebrating The Light

I love Christmas lights . . . the myriad of colors . . . the way they light up the darkness . . . and their reflections in windows or on the water. Lights just seem to be the perfect decoration to announce and celebrate the birth of The Light of the World.

So, I thought I'd share a few of the lights along beautiful Cane River in the historic city of Natchitoches, LA. I never tire of seeing them, but it's especially fun to enjoy them with family - as we did during the Thanksgiving holidays.

Click on a pic to enlarge it.

Come to the Light; 'tis shining for thee.
Sweetly the Light has dawned upon me.

I'm like a child when it comes to Christmas lights. My husband never put lights up when he was a bachelor. Our first Christmas together, he adamantly stuck to his no lights policy. Then one evening I came home from school to find the house lit up in a blaze of Christmas color. I felt like he'd given me the moon!:)
Love your pictures, Glenda--thanks so much for sharing with us. I'm smiling as I look at these.

I love the lights and the reflection in the water. As kids, our parents always drove us around to look at Christmas lights and we would listen to carols on the radio. Thank you for sharing the pics and the verse.

And a clicking I went!! Spectacular!! I love Christmas lights, but for some reason these really touched and inspired me, they weren't just beautiful lights. The giant book, and your single picture of the dove pretty much says it all. And what they did to the bridge!! How cool is that? I will have to go a long ways with my Christmas light pictures this year to match this, thanks for the visual delights.

Very beautiful! I love to see all the Christmas lights, too. After all, since Jesus is the Light of the world, what better way to celebrate His birth!!!

Thanks for sharing; I wasn't able to go by and see the lights while I was visiting my parents for Thanksgiving last week.

The pictures are just beautiful so I can imagine that seeing them in person was even more so. I love Christmas lights and they do remind me of Jesus, the Light of the world.

Hey Glenda, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. The lights are just gorgeous! I love the one of John 3:16 and the dove the best. I'm sure they are even more beautiful in person. Carla

I loved the pictures. I'm wondering if you floated down the river--or walked.

I just put up two simple strings of white lights outside my back door along the bushes. They look so cheerful, and remind me of Jesus shining in the darkness.

These really ARE beautiful, Glenda! We took our two grandchildren out one evening to see the Christmas lights in lawns of houses in a nearby small town....I enjoyed it as much as THEY did :)
